Gardenia Shave is built around creamy lather and clay slip, with a floral gardenia-and-neroli aroma.

Why Allie made it

A shave bar has a mechanical job: give the razor a well-lathered surface to move across. I used porcine tallow, shea butter, castor oil, and a mix of plant oils for the soap base, then added bentonite and kaolin clays for a silky feel under the razor.

What it feels or smells like

Gardenia leads the scent with neroli adding a sweet citrus-floral note and chamomile softening the edges. The lather is creamy, and the clays contribute slip. Alkanet and ultramarine violet provide color, while St. John’s Wort oil is part of the formula.

Ingredients or materials

Shea butter, porcine tallow, coconut oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, almond oil, palm kernel oil, castor oil, distilled water, sodium hydroxide, gardenia essential oil, neroli essential oil, chamomile essential oil, St. John’s Wort oil, sodium lactate, bentonite clay, kaolin clay, alkanet, and ultramarine violet. Contains porcine tallow and is not vegan.

How to use

Wet the bar and skin. Build a creamy lather with your hands, directly on the area, or with a washcloth. Apply, shave carefully, and rinse thoroughly. Let the bar drain and dry between uses.

For external use only. Avoid eyes. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children. Use caution when shaving.
